A Piece of Art

Work in progress – Summer 25

With a sensitive perspective, Lea Deutschmann explores themes such as social isolation, the impact of social media, and societal division. Through her artistic work, she aims to strengthen empathy, connectedness, and social cohesion.

This intention led her to develop the concept “A Piece of Art.” The idea is simple: a painting on canvas is eventually cut into equal-sized pieces and distributed among different people—like a cake shared with friends and family. Participants can purchase one piece of the artwork and hang it in their own home, knowing that others—perhaps even their own friends or family members—own the corresponding “puzzle pieces” of the painting. In this way, everyone involved collectively forms a single artwork and remains connected—through art.

You can also purchase an entire painting and have it divided into as many pieces as needed to share with the loved ones you wish to feel closer to in your everyday life.
